Falcon men building on latest win (01-18-11)

Bowling Green looks to build on Sunday’s impressive 62-53 win over Miami, hosting Ohio Wednesday. Tipoff
is at 7 p.m.
The Falcons are 7-10 overall and in a three-way tie for first in the Mid-American Conference East at 2-1.
There is only one undefeated team in MAC play, Ball State, the MAC West leader at 3-0.
Miami jumped out early against BG, but the Falcons played good defense and got 33 points from its bench
players to help secure the win.
Jordon Crawford, a 5-feet-6 sophomore, led the way for the Falcons against Miami, coming off the bench to
direct the offense and finish with 10 points, eight assists and five steals.
For the season, A’uston Calhoun and Dee Brown are both averaging 10.4 per game and Scott Thomas is at
10.3 ppg for the Falcons.
Calhoun earned a start against Miami after averaging 15.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 26.4 minutes of
playing time in the previous seven games. He played 19 minutes against Miami and was BG’s leading scorer
with 11 points. In the last eight games Calhoun is averaging 14.8 ppg while shooting 50.4 percent from
the field (56-of-111).
Thomas continues to do a little bit of everything for the Falcons. Thomas leads the team in rebounding
(116), steals (39) and is tied for first in assists (55).
SCOUTING OHIO: Ohio is 8-9 overall and one of three teams at 1-2 in the MAC East.
D.J. Cooper will provide a tough test for Bowling Green’s defense.
A 5-feet-11 sophomore, Cooper has quickly developed into one of the top players in the MAC. He is
averaging 18.7 ppg with 138 assists, 46 steals and 98 rebounds while playing 36.6 minutes per game.
Tommy Freeman, a 6-5 senior, is averaging 11.4 ppg and DeVaughn Washington, 6-8 senior, is averaging 11.1
ppg.
