Falcons seek hoop wins (01-16-11)

Bowling Green’s men’s basketball team looks to right itself hosting Miami on Sunday. Tipoff is 2 p.m.
The Falcons, 6-10 overall and 1-1 in the Mid-American Conference, are coming off an 80-63 loss at Kent
State.
The Golden Flashes scored 40 points in the paint against BG’s 2-3 zone and the Falcons had 21 turnovers.

The Miami game is a throwback game as part of the celebration of the final season in Anderson Arena.
The Falcons will be wearing jerseys modeled after ones from the early 1960s.
General admission tickets are $1 for the game.
Dee Brown leads BG in scoring at 10.8 ppg. Scott Thomas and A’uston Calhoun are both averaging 10.3 ppg.

Thomas is leading the team in rebounding (109, 7.3 per game), assists (54, 3.4 per game) and steals (36,
2.3 per game).
Calhoun has scored 107 points in his last seven games, with three games of 20 points per game in that
stretch. In the seven-game span, he is averaging 15.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 26.4 minutes per game
while shooting 51.5 percent from the field (51-of-99).
MIAMI: The RedHawks are 7-9 overall and the only undefeated team in the MAC East at 2-0 after posting a
70-67 win over Buffalo Thursday.
Julian Mavunga, Antonio Ballard and Nick Winbush combined for 51 points in the win. Winbush hit a key
late 3-pointer and freshman Quinten Rollins made two big free throws.
Mavunga, a 6-foot-8 junior, leads the team in scoring (13.4 ppg), rebounds (6.7 rpg), and with 37
assists.
Ballard, a 6-4 fifth-year senior, is averaging 12.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Winbush, a 6-7
senior, is averaging 12.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game and he has made 34 3-pointers.
