Prep Roundup – Perrysburg boys top Maumee

Perrysburg’s boys basketball team improved to 7-4 overall and 6-1 in the Northern Lakes League with a

Perrysburg out-scored Maumee, 23-11 over the middle two quarters and held a 41-28 lead entering the
fourth.
“We had a nice run to end the second quarter. We just sort of stretched the lead slowly,” Perrysburg
coach Dave Boyce said. “I think we rebounded well. We shot the ball well and we moved the ball well. We
just had some timely stops with our defense.
“(Maumee) is talented in a lot of positions and we were very coachable tonight and made some big stops
when we needed them.”
Dominique King led Maumee with 12 points while Shawn Flanagan added 10. The Panthers are 5-5 overall and
4-3 in the NLL, having lost their last three league games.
Perrysburg has won five straight NLL games and three games overall. The ’Jackets are alone in second
place in the league standings, one game back of Bowling Green in the loss column.
“We’ve got a big road game at Springfield on Saturday night. We’re just trying to gain a little
confidence one game at a time,” Boyce said.
The Perrysburg-Maumee game was the only game involving county teams that was not postponed due to
inclement weather Tuesday.
In other NLL boys games scheduled for Tuesday, Bowling Green’s game against Southview was moved to Feb.
8. Rossford at Anthony Wayne, and Springfield at Northview were also postponed, with makeup dates to be
determined.
