Stan Weber dies
ROSSFORD – Stan Weber, 85, died Saturday. He played basketball at Bowling Green State University
(1947-50) and later played professionally with the Waterloo (Iowa) Hawks of the National Professional
Basketball League and traveled with the Harlem Globetrotters.
At Bowling Green, Weber was a four-year letterman for coach Harold Anderson and finished with 1,036
career points. After graduation, Weber was a third-round draft pick (31st overall) in the National
Basketball Association draft by the New York Knicks.
Weber later had a 30-year career teaching math, coaching basketball, track and cross country at Rossford
Junior High and High Schools.
Falcon women receive votes
Bowling Green’s women’s basketball team is ranked 32nd with 21 points in the Associated Press poll this
week.
The Falcons, 14-1 overall, were ranked 34th with 15 points in last week’s poll.
Montrose returns to USHL
KEARNEY, Neb. – Former Bowling Green Falcon defenseman Michael Montrose has returned to the Tri-City
Storm of the United States (Junior) Hockey League. He also played for the Storm last season.
Montrose had two assists and an on-ice rating of even in 11 games as a freshman for BG during the first
half of this season. He played in two games for Tri-City last weekend, totaling no points and an on-ice
rating of minus-3.
Last season, Montrose had one goal and 12 assists and on-ice rating of minus-13 in 59 regular-season
games and no points and an on-ice rating of minus-4 in three playoff games.
Montrose, who turns 20 in May, is eligible to return to college hockey once he finishes his junior hockey
career.
Elmwood boosters to meet
JERRY CITY – The Elmwood Athletic Boosters will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the high school media center.
