Karen (Schaller) Swartz, age 69, of Perrysburg, OH, passed away on Saturday morning, November 7, 2009 at
Mercy St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, OH.
She was born in Lima, OH on November 17, 1939 to Willard and Helen (Thomas) Schaller. Karen married
Robert Swartz on July 18, 1959 in Waterville, OH and he survives.
Over the years of 1965-1985 she had been a teacher, coach, advisor, dean of students and athletic
director for Rossford Public Schools. She had been inducted into both Rossford High School and Anthony
Wayne High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Karen was a volunteer coordinator for 10 years with the Wood County CASA (Court Appointed Special
Advocate) program. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Stony Ridge, OH, Order of the Eastern
Star Perrysburg, OH and in her spare time she enjoyed being with family, reading, and watching sporting
events.
Karen is survived by her husband: Robert; daughter: Karrie (Erven) Failor of Perrysburg, OH; son:
Kristopher (Sue) Swartz of Perrysburg, OH; four grandchildren: Kyle (Erin), Robert (Laura) Amanda,
Kathryn; a great-grandson: Collin; and sister: Kay (Dorsey) Sergent of Bowling Green, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Marsh Funeral
Home 110 Main Street Luckey, OH. Funeral services will be conducted at St. John’s Lutheran Church Stony
Ridge, OH at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2009, where there will be additional visitation one hour
prior to services. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel Beaudion.
Interment will be in Troy Township Cemetery Luckey, OH. There will be a bereavement luncheon served in
the church fellowship hall immediately following the cemetery committal services.
