Prep Roundup: BG boys win opener in sectional tourney

Bowling Green’s boys soccer team defeated Lima Senior, 2-0 in the Division I sectional tournament at
Findlay High School Monday.
BG, 8-5-4 overall, faces No. 1 seed Perrysburg Thursday at 5 p.m. at Findlay.
Xavier Brown and Ethan Robison scored for the Bobcats and Will Hess made one save.

Eastwood 2, Swanton 1, OT
In Ottawa Hills, Eastwood’s Saige Smith, on an assist from Brooke Long, scored in overtime to edge
Swanton. The Eagles face Archbold Saturday at 4 p.m.
Riki Rossman, on an assist from Jessica McClain, also scored for Eastwood and Kristin Martin was in goal
for the Eagles.
Archbold 4, Otsego 0
In Ottawa Hills, No. 2 seed Archbold blanked Otsego to advance in sectional play.
Oak Harbor 2, Northwood 1, 2 OT
In Genoa, top-seeded Oak Harbor edged Northwood in double-overtime.
Jessica Grindle scored for Northwood with four minutes remaining in regulation. Megan Hess finished with
19 saves for the Rangers. OH goalie A. Mooney made 12 saves.

MAL championships
In Bettsville, Lakota was eighth and North Baltimore ninth in the Midland Athletic League championship on
Saturday.
Tiffin Calvert claimed the team title with 78 points. Lakota had 183 points and North Baltimore finished
ninth with 230 points.
Results for Lakota’s boys were: Kyle Babcock, fifth, 16:53; Austin Garber, 32nd, 18:48; Zac Baker, 35th,
18:49; Seth Benfer, 45th, 19:01; and Tyler Aldrich, 72nd, 20:01.
Results for NB’s boys were: Corey North, 33rd, 18:48; Josh Meggitt, 36th, 18:51; Jordan Ray, 42nd, 18:59;
Andrew Senecal, 50th, 19:13; and Phillip Ernsberger, 77th, 20:17.

MAL championships
In Bettsville, Lakota was eighth and North Baltimore did not field a full team in the MAL championship on
Saturday.
Seneca East won the team title with 36 points. Lakota finished with 187 points.
Lakota’s Julia Windom was fifth overall in 20:17.
Also running for Lakota were: Leah Gabel, 24th, 22:17; Amber Steiner, 63rd, 24:43; Amanda Babcock, 64th,
24:48; and Melissa Guay, 77th, 26:27.
North Baltimore’s Amanda Hotaling finished 42nd in a time of 22:57, running as an individual. Also
running from NB were: Brittany Lee, 52nd, 24:02; Chloe Hamlin, 57th, 24:28; and Brianna Ferguson, 91st,
28:46.

Eastwood advanced to the Suburban Lakes League tournament finals Saturday by defeating Woodmore (25-21,
25-15) and Genoa (25-22, 25-20). The Eagles will play Otsego in the finals Wednesday at Eastwood Middle
School following the seventh grade match which begins at 4:30 p.m. Leaders for Eastwood in its two games
Saturday were: Emily Hayward, seven kills, five aces, four blocks; Elise Wolff, eight aces, three kills;
Marissa Tudor, four aces, three assists; Cassidy Rolf, eight kills, five aces, two bocks; and Ellie
Skibiki, five assists, thee aces.
