Owens hosts theatrical marathon

Owens Community College will host a dramatic marathon in which students and faculty as well as community
members will write, cast, rehearse and perform seven different plays in 24 hours
"Theatre Express" will take place in the Studio Theatre in the Center for the Fine and
Performing Arts, Oregon Road, Perrysburg Township, Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The plays will then be staged Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Studio Theatre.
The process begins with actors arriving at the Center for Fine and Performing Arts wearing a distinctive
costume put together from their own wardrobe.
Actors will also bring an item that reflects their characters’ personalities. Then seven teams of writers
and directors representing Owens Community College faculty will begin writing and staging a play based
on a yet-to-be-determined theme and topic involving the assigned three to five actors assigned to their
team.
They will craft plays no longer than 10 minutes.
Rehearsals with actors and directors will take place the next day. The playwrights will see their plays
staged for the first time with the audience.
