BG women win Falcon Invite
Heather Conger and Carly Wells each had top 10 finishes and the Bowling Green women’s cross country team
won the 19-team Falcon Invite Saturday with 55 points. BG edged Kent State with 61 points.
Conger was third overall in 22:15.1 and Wells was seventh in 22:31.3.
Also for BG, Sally Kandie was 12th in 22:44.4; Barbara Powers was 18th in 22:51.2; and Abby Koch was 18th
in 22:51.2. In addition for the Falcons, Andrea Pereira de Almeida was 19th in 22:55.1. Powers and
Pereira de Almeida are Bowling Green High School graduates.
BG men finish 11th
Chris Moody led the Bowling Green men’s cross country team with a 34th-place finish and the Falcons took
11th Saturday at the Falcon Invite.
Kent State won the 19-team event with 39 points. BG scored 302.
Moody finished in 25:57.3. Also scoring fo BG were: Jason Sayler, 42nd, 26:07; Jesse Smuda, 61st, 26:40;
Johnston Kirui, 77th, 27:15.3; and Ben Leininger, 88th, 27:42.5.
BG volleyball falls to Cetral
Central Michigan defeated Bowling Green, 25-17, 26-24, 23=25, 25-21 in a Mid-American Conference match
Saturday. BG is 8-15 overall and 1-7 in the MAC,
BG’s leaders were: Kaitlin Jackson, 16 kills, 15 digs, three blocks; Shari Luther, 10 kills, three
blocks; Corey Domek, 11 kills; Allison Kearney, 41 assists, three aces; and Alex Zlabis, 18 digs.
BG women’s soccer wins
Keely Chandler scored just 5:36 into the match and the goal held up as Bowling Green’s women’s soccer
team downed Buffalo, 1-0 Sunday. BG is 5-9-3 overall and 1-4-3 in the MAC.
BG’s Alexa Arsenault made four saves.
Owens men’s soccer wins twice
Owens Community College men’s soccer team defeated Mercyhurst North East, 5-0, on three goals from
freshman Rodcliff Hall, and two from Lawrence Vincent. Michael Hamouda provided two assists.
Goalies Pavle Udovicic and Dustin Lamon combined for five saves.
Owens also beat Kellogg CC, 3-1 as Hall scored twice and Cody Katschke added one goal. Hamouda added two
assists.
Owens is 9-6-1 overall.
