Perrysburg’s Weaver qualifies for state tennis tournament

PORT CLINTON — Perrysburg sophomore April Weaver is heading to the Division I girls state tennis
tournament.
Weaver won her district semifinal match Saturday at the VonThron-Hablitzel Tennis Center over Kerigan
McNamara of Notre Dame. Weaver then lost in the finals to Notre Dame’s Megan McNamara.
Weaver won her first match, 6-0, 6-0; before losing in the finals, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Perrysburg’s doubles team of Cammy Messenger and Megan Roberts failed to advance to state, losing their
semifinal match to Southview’s Genna Haider and Anjali Naik, 6-3, 6-2.
The top two singles players and top two doubles teams qualify for the state tournament Oct. 23-24 at Ohio
State University. Thus, no third-place matches were played Saturday.
