Scouting for Food starts Saturday

The Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank and the Boy Scouts of America Erie Shores Council will kick off
their annual Scouting for Food drive on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the food bank headquarters, 24 E.
Woodruff Ave. in Toledo.
The community-wide food drive runs through Nov. 20. Kroger stores will collect non-perishable food
donations in Wood, Ottawa and Lucas counties.
Items needed include peanut butter, cereal, juice, saltine crackers, canned meats, fruits and veggies,
dried goods, powdered milk, toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, and deodorant. The
bank cannot accept baby food, baby formula, or home-canned items.
There are three ways to participate:
¥ The Door-to-Door Boy Scout Campaign, this Saturday through Oct. 24. During this part of the drive, Boy
Scouts drop off bags at area homes and return to collect them filled with your donations the following
weekend. Bags may also be dropped off at your nearest area Kroger store or the Toledo Northwestern Ohio
Food Bank in Toledo;
¥ The Grocer’s Campaign, Saturday through Oct. 24. The Kroger Company will provide shoppers with food
collection bins placed in participating local Kroger stores. Customers can donate to the Food Bank’s
Scouting for Food Campaign by purchasing items and dropping them in designated collection bins; and
¥ The Work Site Campaign, which runs through the holidays, is the final phase of Scouting for Food. This
phase asks employers and employees of local businesses to collect food for the food bank.
