Week 8 high school football capsules
Lemoyne Road is the place to be for high school football Friday night.
Lake and Northwood are hosting important games in their respective leagues.
Lake hosts fourth-ranked and undefeated Genoa for the Suburban Lakes League lead.
And Northwood – approximately three miles north of Lake High School on Lemoyne Road- is home to Ottawa
Hills with the Toledo Area Athletic Conference lead at stake.
Also Friday, Bowling Green hosts Northern Lakes League co-leader Maumee and Elmwood entertains Eastwood
in the annual "Battle of the Woods."
Following is a preview of the games involving Wood County schools:
Maumee (6-1, 3-1)
at BGHS (2-5, 2-2)
Although the Bobcats have two just two wins overall, they’re in the thick of the NLL race.
Even if BG doesn’t win the league, it’ll have say in which team does as it hosts Maumee this week and
Southview, the other co-leader, next week.
Springfield (3-4, 2-2)
at Perrysburg (5-2, 2-2)
Perrysburg’s been up and down and can’t afford a loss if it hopes to remain in the NLL race.
Rossford (0-7, 0-4)
at Southview (4-3, 3-1)
Rossford faces a team with a winning record for the sixth time in eight weeks.
Eastwood (6-1, 3-1)
at Elmwood (3-4, 2-1)
Both teams need a win to stay in the SLL race.
Eastwood’s also hoping to finish 9-1 to keep alive its hopes of a state playoff berth.
Genoa (7-0, 3-0)
at Lake (5-2, 3-1)
If it wasn’t for the scoreboard, Lake would have been happy with its play in a 9-7 loss last week at
Eastwood.
The Flyers played well offensively and defensively, but were hurt by mistakes at key times.
Still, Lake’s defense was outstanding as usual as it held an opponent to one touchdown or fewer for the
fifth time. That defense has been complemented by an efficient running game and timely passing attack.

Genoa has been outstanding all season and is bidding to finish 7-0 in the league for the third straight
season.
The Comets, who have won 26 straight regular-season games, have scored 377 points and allowed just 24
this season.
Otsego (0-7, 0-3)
at Gibsonburg (2-5, 0-3)
One team earns its first SLL victory of the season.
North Baltimore (2-5, 0-4)
at Lakota (3-4, 0-4)
One losing streak ends – Lakota has lost four in a row, while NB’s losing streak is at five.
Ottawa Hills (3-4, 2-1)
at Northwood (4-3, 3-0)
Northwood hosts the first of three straight big games in the TAAC.
The Rangers and Toledo Christian lead the TAAC at 3-0, with OH right behind at 2-1.
The Rangers face OH and TC the next two weeks before TC and OH meet to finish the season.
Northwood is seeking its third straight and seventh TAAC title in the last nine seasons.
