Eastwood plans Bruning Night
LUCKEY – The Betty Bruning Night is Thursday at Eastwood High School during the volleyball match with
Lake.
Coach Bruning was the driving force behind the establishment of volleyball and girls basketball at
Eastwood. The 50/50 raffle from the match will be donated to the scholarship fund that has been
established in her honor.
BG’s Preston tied for lead
HEBRON, Ky. – Bowling Green’s Drew Preston is tied for the lead after two rounds of the Bearcat
Invitational being played at Traditions Golf Course. As a team the Falcon men are two strokes off the
lead in the 17-team event.
Preston, a sophomore, had pars on 31 of his 36 holes and shot a 1-over par 143 (74-69) to share the lead.
Ball State tops the field at 589 and BG shot a 591.
Other BG scores were: Parker Hewitt, tied for eighth, 147; Matt Schneider, tied for 25th, 150; Wes Gates,
tied for 44th, 153; and John Powers, tied for 48th, 154. Powers is a BGHS graduate.
BG women’s golfers 16th
FISHERS, Ind. – Bowling Green women’s golf team is 16th after one round of the Duramed MAC Preview at
Hawthorne Golf and Country Club. Akron tops the 16-team field with a 310. BG shot 334.
BG’s scores were: Susannah Gruden and Paula DiFrancesco, 79 each, tied for 21st; Hannah Lambert and
Marissa Grew, 88 each, tied for 82nd; and Lauren Grew, 93, tied for 89.
The second round of the tournament was suspended due to darkness and will be finished today. After
completion of the second round, the third and final round will begin.
