On Monday, October 12, 2009, Josephine "Jo" Emily (Kmotorka) Mutchler, 86, passed away
surrounded by her loving family at the Kingston Residence in Perrysburg, Ohio.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 12, 1922, to Joseph and Mary Kmotorka. As a young girl she
moved to Toledo, where she later graduated from Waite High School. She married Edwin Mutchler on June
28, 1942 and celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this year.
She was a member of Zoar Lutheran Church in Perrysburg.
Jo had various jobs over the years. During World War II, she worked at Peters Stamping making shell
casings. After her children had grown, she went back to work at Commodore Perry Hotel as a banquet
waitress, then moved on to Wooden Indian restaurant at the French Quarter in Perrysburg. She finished
her work career after working 14 years for the Jeep Corporation.
While retired, she loved to travel with her husband and friends, with trips that included Hawaii and
Germany, as well as winter stays in Las Vegas. As a member and past president of the Flying Quail Model
A Club, she and Eddie made frequent trips in their Model A.
Jo had a passion for her flower gardens, crocheting, cross stitching, and visiting antique stores and
garage sales with her daughter, Denise. Her family was her most important treasure as she was a loving
wife, mother, and grandmother of six.
In addition to her husband, Edwin, of 67 wonderful years, Jo is survived by her son, Thomas (Sue)
Mutchler of Ashland, Ohio; daughter Denise (Gary) Ehrmin of Perrysburg; and brother Edward Kmotorka of
Sandusky, Ohio. Her grandchildren include Leslie Mutchler of Austin, Texas; Drew Mutchler of Columbus,
Ohio; Dennis (Frances) Ehrmin of Columbus, Ohio; Stacy (Kevin) Warren of Maumee; Megan Ehrmin of
Columbus, Ohio; and Emily Ehrmin of Waterville.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, son Dennis Lee Mutchler, and brother Jerry Kmotorka.
