Agnes Margaret Kern

Agnes Margaret Kern, 100, formerly of Custar, went to be with the Lord after a long illness. The Lord
called her home early Monday morning, October 12, 2009, at Briar Hill Nursing Home, North Baltimore,
Ohio, where she had lived for three years.
Mrs. Kern was born January 15, 1909 in Custar, Ohio to Peter and Gertrude (Heinze) Schuster. She married
Charles Kern Jr. on November 15, 1929, and he preceded her in death on October 18, 1991.
Agnes is survived by a son, Edwin "Tiny" (Betty) Kern, Portage, Ohio; a daughter, Mary Lou
(Avery) Evinger, Deshler, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 11
great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Norman
"Dale" Kern and Kenneth Kern; three brothers, Edward "Petie" Schuster, Anthony
"Whitey" Schuster and Herm Schuster; and a sister, Margaret Kempf.
Mrs. Kern was a member of the Holy Catholic Family Church, North Baltimore, Ohio.
Agnes enjoyed gardening, having grown a variety of vegetables and flowers.
She was a homemaker and farm wife.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2009, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Custar,
Ohio. Father Jeffrey Nordhaus will officiate. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Deshler, Ohio,
next to her husband, Charles.
Calling will be held prior to the Mass on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church,
Custar, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hoytville Volunteer Fire Department and/or the St. Louis
Catholic Church Altar Society, Custar.
