Herald R. "Buddy" Bell, age 74, of Perrysburg, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009 peacefully
at St. Lukes Hospital, with his family at his side.
He was born in Lawrence-burg, TN, on January 3, 1935, to Ralph and Gladys (Brook) Bell.
Buddy was employed with L.O.F. Rossford Plant 6 in the bending department for 40 years before retiring in
1993. He was also a dedicated and longtime employee with Witzler-Shank Funeral Home where he helped both
the Witzler and Shank families for over 52 years.
Buddy married Lois P. Redouty on August 28, 1954 in Perrysburg. In his spare time when not working or
volunteering at the funeral home, Buddy loved to work in his garden and tinker around the house. He was
an active member of St. Rose Church, where he served as an usher during 5:00 P.M.. Mass. For many years
you would see Buddy cooking fish during Friday night Lenten fish fry’s. Buddy was a proud member of the
4th degree Knights of Columbus, where he was a member of the Honor Guard, he was also a member of the
Maumee Elks. He will always be remembered for his gift of gab, earning him the nickname
"Gabby" at L.O.F. and for being a true Southern gentlemen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Lois; sons: Herald R. "Rusty" Bell and Gary
(Kristen) Bell; son-in-law: William Pearce; grandchildren: Jordan Pearce, John Montgomery, Morgan, Ryan,
Caroline and Cole Bell; and sisters: Ruby Ann Ward and Joan Kirkwood. He was preceded in death by his
parents and precious daughter, Judy Bell Pearce.
Friends will be received on Friday, October 9, 2009 from 2-9 P.M. in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 222
E.S. Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 (419-874-3133) where scripture services will be held at 7:00
P.M. followed by the Knights of Columbus Bishop James R. Hoffman Assembly #807 service. Visitation will
continue at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at St. Rose Church, followed by a Mass of Christian
Burial at 10:30 A.M.. with burial in St. Rose Cemetery.
