Alyce C. Clayton, 91, of North Baltimore, died at 12:36 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009, at The Heritage,
Findlay. She was born on September 17, 1918, in McComb, to the late Charles and Margaret (McTaggert)
Reimer. She married Charles L. Clayton on January 4, 1941, and he preceded her in death on December 25,
1987.
She is survived by her sons: John (Linda) of Findlay, David (Pamela) of Bellevue, and William of North
Baltimore; daughters: Leslie (Romaine) Bowen of Jerry City and Virginia (Merle) Michaelis of Broken
Arrow, OK; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Her sisters, Florence Matthes and Mary Krebs, and a grandson, Charlie Clayton, preceded her in death.
Alyce retired from Norbalt Rubber Co. after 13 years and then the North Baltimore Public Library after 17
years, where she was known as the "story hour lady." She was a member of the Holy Family
Catholic Church, North Baltimore, where she was part of the pastoral council.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 12, 2009, at the Holy Family
Catholic Church, North Baltimore, with Father Stephen Cairns officiating. Burial will be in New
Maplewood Cemetery, North Baltimore.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 p.m. at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore,
where a scripture service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Catholic Church,
North Baltimore Public Library, and/or Bridge Home Health and Hospice in her memory.
