First Friday wraps up season

PERRYSBURG – The First Friday summer series in the city’s downtown district wraps this week with the last
of its well-attended festivals.
From 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, the free community event on Louisiana Avenue will feature live music from the
band Common Creed as well as a variety of family activities in the downtown area. Programming includes
entertainment from magician Eli Martin, street performer and juggler "Hatch," pet adoption
services from South Suburban and Toledo Humane Society, and a 105.5 FM live radio broadcast.
The Perrysburg YMCA will set up children’s activities along Second Street, including a human-size
Checkers board, a hula hoop contest, and an inflatable bounce house.
Michael Liebenthal, of Perrysburg Main Street, said the local series is regarded by the state Main Street
organization as the best First Friday program in Ohio. Sponsors have allowed organizers to provide free
admittance, food and live music for the entire season.
Liebenthal believes this has translated into significant attendance.
"If we didn’t have tens of thousands come to the event in total, I would be shocked," he said.

The festival series, typically held during the summer form May to October on the first Friday of each
month, was conceived three years ago as a way to promote the historic downtown area. It is primarily
supported by its sponsor Taylor Automotive Group.
Perrysburg Main Street Inc. is a designated Main Street program through the National Trust for Historic
Preservation and organized by Heritage Ohio.
