Andrew Z’s pizzeria is live and local Friday

PERRYSBURG – Andrew Z’s Sportz Pizzeria goes live at Levis Commons this Friday.
Andrew Zepeda, a Perrysburg resident and host of "Andrew Z in the Morning" on 92.5 KISS FM,
will open his new restaurant Friday at the Town Center at Levis Commons. A ribbon cutting for the sports
bar and pizzeria is scheduled for 9 a.m., with events – including giveaways, live music, children’s
activities and celebrity guests – continuing throughout the celebration on Friday and Saturday.
Opening a restaurant had always been his family’s dream. And for the past couple of months, Zepeda has
been putting together the remaining pieces to make those entrepreneurial aspirations a reality.
Zepeda said in a telephone interview this week that he chose the Levis Commons site for his restaurant
because of its readily-identifiable location.
"I knew if I was going to go ahead in this venture that I wanted a place that kind of everyone would
know," he said.
The radio host believes his new enterprise will serve four audiences: family diners, a lunch crowd, early
evening diners, and people looking for late night food and entertainment, which he said seemed to be
lacking in the area. The restaurant will serve pizza- and pasta-related fare, with healthy menu
alternatives.
Zepeda has enlisted his mother, his uncle, co-host Dimetrius Nicodemus as well as Bowling Green
restaurateur Bill Baum to help him steer the ship.
His motto, stepping for the first time into the restaurant business, has been, "Anything we’ve
always wanted to do – let’s try it. There’s no corporate to tell us what we can’t do."
Entertainment planned for Friday and Saturday includes: astrology readings from Janet Amid, 5 to 7 p.m.;
music from top-40 band East River Drive, 6 to 8 p.m.; and more music from DJ Richie of New Sound
Entertainment, 8 p.m. until closing both nights.
Saturday’s noon to 6 p.m. lineup also includes carnival activities with inflatables, face-painting and
balloon animals, as well as miniature golf.
Additionally, there will be special appearances by Extra TV’s Carlos Diaz and the cast of "Andrew Z
in the Morning."
Zepeda’s show is known for its hot-topic debates and the "Wheel of Consequences," which doles
out outrageous punishments for cast members who picked the wrong team on the television show
"Dancing with the Stars." As Lucas County’s "Weight Loss Czar" Zapaeda is also
leading an effort to help the county lose a million pounds this year.
Zepeda said he looks forward to watching which ideas for the restaurant prove successful in the future.

"I think that’s the exciting part about this is we don’t know," he said.
