NLL girls tennis tournament postponed
Day 1 of the Northern Lakes League girls tennis tournament scheduled for today has been postponed to
Wednesday due to inclement weather.
Play at Bowling Green State University’s Keefe Courts will begin Wednesday at 9 a.m. The tournament will
now conclude with championship matches on Thursday.
BG women’s golf takes second
COLUMBIANA – The BGSU women’s golf team finished with an 18-hole score of 327 and a second-place finish
at the Youngstown State University Invitational Monday.
Originally scheduled for 36 holes, the one-day tournament was shortened to 18 holes due to heavy winds at
The Links at Firestone Farms.
Bowling Green finished four strokes behind tournament host and champion Youngstown State (323). Cleveland
State (346) finished third.
Senior Megan Gormley led the way for the Falcons, taking second overall with a score of 79 (39-40). All
five of BG’s entrants finished in the top eleven of the 29-player field. Other results for BG were:
Hannah Lambert, tied for third, 81 (40-41); Marisa Glew, tied for sixth, 83 (39-44); Susannah Grunden,
tied for ninth, 84 (43-41); and Lauren Glew, 11th, 85 (41-44).
Eastwood 21st in state poll
COLUMBUS – Eastwood is ranked 21st in the latest state-wide football poll. The Eagles, 5-0, have 12
points in Division IV.

Owens volleyball competes
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Friday and Saturday, the Owens Community College Volleyball team competed in the
Parkland Invitational, finishing 1-4.
No. 9 Kirkwood (Iowa) defeated Owens, 25-27, 25-22, 25-17, 25-21; No. 17 Southwestern Illinois defeated
Owens, 25-23, 25-19, 18-25, 26-28, 15-11; No. 4 Parkland defeated Owens, 25-20, 22-25, 23-25, 25-21,
15-9; Owens defeated 20th ranked Vincennes (Ind.), 25-18, 25-21, 25-27, 25-20; and No. 9 Des Moines
(Iowa) defeated Owens, 25-16, 22-25, 25-18, 25-16. Owens is 17-12 overall.
Owens’s leaders in the tournament (five games) were: Leigha Poulson, 168 assists, 49 digs; Maureen Kurtz,
58 kills, 35 digs, 24 blocks; Amanda Drew, 118 digs; and Brooke Hearn, 55 kills.
