Donna Swope

Donna Jean (Bobb) Swope is enjoying the beauty and serenity of heaven. She leaves behind a legacy of love
for others and a deep faith in Jesus Christ.
She was born Feb. 26, 1931, and passed Sept. 4, 2009.
Donna graduated from North Baltimore High School, where she met Duane Swope, later marrying on January
21, 1951 after she graduated from the Toledo School of Nursing.
She was a devoted, caring, and sacrificial mother to Bobb, Jim, Gregg, Joe, Tami and John. Duane and
Donna were foster parents to 150 children over a 26-year period and adopted Diana and Noah in 1988. She
leaves 24 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Everything Donna did was with a spirit of blessing others. Every meal prepared, every load of laundry
washed, every prayer at bedtime, every blanket and cap made for the Missionary Aid Society, every word
of encouragement, and every kiss and hug made the recipient feel loved and cherished. She was the
heartbeat of Christ to many.
Donna enjoyed the simple things of life: a cup of hot tea, bird watching, family meals, singing, reading
her Bible, a game of Scrabble.
Donna lived with Alzheimer’s disease for 17 years.
She is survived by her immediate family members and her sisters, Leona Bernard and Dorothy Trout.
A memorial service will be held in celebration of Donna’s life at Plain Congregational Church, West Poe
Road, Bowling Green, at 3 p.m. Sunday October 4th. A luncheon will follow. The family warmly invites you
to attend.
