Gerald Lowell Spencer, 85, passed away September 25, 2009 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania, Ohio.
He was born June 4, 1924 in Toledo, Ohio to George and Gertrude (Davis) Spencer.
He was a World War II Army Veteran.
Gerald worked at Sun Oil Refinery for 30 years prior to retirement.
An avid carpenter, Gerald renovated his home and built boats and gliders by hand. He enjoyed opera music,
fishing and trailoring vacations at Drummond Island, Mullett Lake, Michigan and Lakeland, Florida.
Gerald is well-beloved by his wife and children.
Gerald is survived by his wife Jennie, his children, Linda (Gary) Suter, Steven (Linda) Spencer, Cheryl
(David-Deceased) Lapinski, Gerald Jr. (Sandi) Spencer, Marjorie (Harvey) Flores, Sylvia Spencer;
grandchildren, David, Theresa, Wendy, Brian, Stephanie, Amy, Joshua, Jereme, Jason, Shane, Taylor,
Jordan, Audrey, Jessica; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Andrea, Shelby, David Jr., Erica, Ethan, Brian
Jr., Sidney, Seth, Austin; sisters-in-law, Marie (Russell, deceased) Naugle, Rose (Bob Sr.) Lance, Hazel
(Sonny, deceased) Leiminger, Linda (Larry) Hoffner, Millie (Paul) Bailey; brothers-in-law, Fred Malone,
Dutch Malone; foster sisters, Jo (Jim-deceased) Patton, Mary-deceased (Norm) Bassett; many nieces and
nephews and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude Hortense Spencer and George Monroe Spencer; brother,
Warren (Lucile) Arthur; sisters, Paulene Linnenkugel, Carol (Fred) Willoughby, stepmother, Betty
Spencer.
Visitation will take place on Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Eggleston Meinert Pavley Funeral, Oregon
Chapel 440 S. Coy Road from 2 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at the funeral home Tuesday at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial
Park.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association of Northwest Ohio.
