BG clothing drive to benefit job seekers prior to Sept. 30 workshop

The Woman’s Club of Bowling Green is helping coordinate a clothing drive for gently used clothing and
shoes that could be used for interviewing purposes.
The Deacon’s Shop, at the First Presbyterian Church at 126 S. Church St., provides free clothing to the
public and is open for shopping on Thursday mornings between 9:30 and 11 a.m. The local community is
invited to go through their closets and donate clean, usable clothing items and shoes that are no longer
being worn. Clothing donations may be dropped off at the church any time during the day that the church
is open. It would be helpful to mark the donations as "interview clothing." Of course, they
will willingly accept other items that have been laundered and are in good repair.
Receipts for tax purposes of donated items are available upon request. Call the church office at (419)
352-5176 for more details.
This request is being made to assist local job seekers, who are encouraged to attend a Sept. 30 career
workshop being conducted by Job Solutions of Wood County and the Penta Adult and Continuing Education
Career Center. The workshop is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Woman’s Club clubhouse, 134 N. Prospect at
Court Street. Resume development, cover letters and interviewing techniques will be discussed, along
with web site searches.
Mary DeWitt of Job Solutions can provide details about the workshop at (419) 352-4172. Call Penta’s Cindy
Covington at at (419) 661-6181 with questions regarding classes and training in health, business, and
computer careers, along with skilled trade occupations.
There will be light refreshments and door prizes for those attending.
