Shrimp harvest called successful

WHITEHOUSE – On Saturday and Sunday, the Wheeler Shrimp Farm in Whitehouse held its second harvest.
Duke Wheeler reported that they harvested between 1,200 to 1,300 pounds of freshwater shrimp.
It was considered a very successful second year of operation for the farm.
"We had more buyers than what we had in shrimp," Wheeler said by phone, noting that some
prospective buyers were turned away.
On the primary harvest day, he estimates between 300 to 400 customers and observers were on hand.
"Many of the kids jumped in the pond and helped us with the harvest," he said.
