N. B. school board continues negotiations on land purchase

NORTH BALTIMORE – The North Baltimore Board of Education is continuing to pursue its purchase of more
than 80 acres of land for the new middle/high school complex.
The board held a special meeting Tuesday in the meeting room of the school administration building. Its
first order of business was an 80-minute executive session to discuss the consideration of the purchase
of property for public purposes.
When the board meeting reconvened, members unanimously approved a resolution authorizing the execution of
a real estate purchase and sale agreement between the board and John P. Kelley and R. Charles Kelley for
the purchase of "certain real property."
"This gives us the authority to continue negotiations with the Kelleys," Superintendent Kyle
Clark explained afterward, noting it has been a year-long process so far. "Though the negotiation
processes are at the point of agreement, this is a good-faith resolution showing the Kelleys we are very
much interested in the property, and are ready, willing and able to continue the negotiation
process."
Clark said the details are not related to price. "It’s just to hammer out a few fine details. We’re
still finishing up surveys to find out what’s out there, which is standard."
He expressed the hope the land purchase will be finalized within a month.
The land is south of Quarry Road, east of Rudolph Road, north of Eagleville Road and bounded on the east
by Rocky Ford Creek.
