Rail Festival in Fostoria
FOSTORIA – The Fostoria Rail Festival will be Saturday in downtown Fostoria and at the Fostoria Middle
School at 1202 H.L. Ford Drive.
The day will feature model train displays, lens-eye view photo contest, ride the rails car show, soup
contest, farmers market, historical rail tours, learning corner for children and shuttle service between
the venues.
Admission and parking are free.
The Fostoria Iron Triangle Swamp Meet will be held at the school. It will feature all gauges of model
trains, railfan items, toy trains, operating layouts for model trains and limited edition Bob Lorenz
prints.
The festival is sponsored by the Fostoria Rail Preservation Society.
Homeowner confronts paper carrier
PERRYSBURG – A newspaper carrier reported to police that he was confronted by a resident with a gun while
making early morning deliveries.
According to the Perrysburg Police Division report, the carrier told police he was delivering a newspaper
to a home in the 900 block of Walnut Street at about 4 a.m. Thursday when the homeowner met him at the
front of the residence and wanted to know why he was in the area so early in the morning. The carrier
said the resident, who was holding a handgun in his right hand by his side, apologized for bringing the
weapon outside.
The report states the carrier said he was not threatened and could not describe the gun more
specifically.
When questioned by police, the homeowner denied owning a firearm. The resident told police that he
confronted the carrier because he had never seen him in the neighborhood before but that he never went
outside.
