Two arts fest bands will perform again locally
2009 Black Swamp Arts Festival international performers, Hungarian bands Little Cow and Parno Graszt,
will perform together and individually in the coming weeks at three area venues.
Little Cow will appear at Grounds For Thought, 174 S. Main St. Bowling Green on Tuesday for a free
concert at 8 p.m.
Parno Graszt, on the tail end of its first North American tour, will be at the Bowling Green State
University Arts Village on Oct. 3.
Little Cow and Parno Graszt will appear together at the Village Idiot, 309 Conant St., Maumee, on Monday
at 8 p.m.
Sunday polka dances slated
DESHLER – The Bavarian Haus will host the first in its fall series of Sunday evening polka dances this
weekend, when the band Happy Times will perform.
All dances run from 4 to 8 p.m. and feature a variety of polka bands, all of which also play waltzes, fox
trots, cha chas and other Latin rhythms, swing and sometimes a bit of rock and roll, as well. In
addition there is both line and square dancing.
Slated in coming weeks are Sept. 27 – Bette’s, Oct. 4 – Bavarian Brass, Oct. 11 – Millie’s, Oct. 18 – Big
Daddy Lackowski, Oct. 25 – a Halloween dance featuring Joey Tomsick, and Nov. 1 – Hank Haller.

Owens to hold auditions for ‘Recent Tragic Events’
Area residents interested in performing in the upcoming student production of the "Recent Tragic
Events" are invited to open theater auditions at Owens Community College.
Auditions will take place Sept. 28 and 29, from 6-9 p.m. in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts
Studio Theatre Room 111. Callback auditions will take place on Sept. 30.
Each individual is encouraged to prepare a monologue as part of the audition or a monologue will be
provided for them.
The production dates are Nov. 19-22.

Writers’ forum returns
TOLEDO – The Northwest Ohio Writers’ Forum resumes its monthly meetings Saturday.
The group meets on the third Saturday of September, October and November from 10 a.m. to noon with a
variety of speakers and subjects.
The meeting will be at the Sanger Branch Library, 3030 W. Central Ave. in Toledo.
