Six BG artists have work in Planned Parenthood’s Thursday show, fundraiser

Planned Parenthood of Northwest Ohio is hosting its first "The Art of Prevention," a 70th
anniversary celebration, this Thursday at the Courtyard at the Navy, 26 Main St., Toledo, from 5:30 to
8:30 p.m.
The fundraiser includes an art show and competition featuring the work of area artists, including college
students as well as emerging, independent artists.
Among them are five Bowling Green State University art students, Matthew Boeing, Megan Garner, Sara
Busler, Kristin Renda and Stephanie Neuber; and Bowling Green resident Daniel Mauk, who does portraits
at the Art-A-Site gallery on Main Street in Bowling Green.
They are joining five other area artists from Henry and Lucas counties in this competition.
The event includes hearty hors d’oeuvres, desserts and a cash bar.
Admission is $70 per person.
Attendees will be invited to vote for their favorite piece in the People’s Choice Award. There will also
be a silent auction and 50/50 raffle.
"The Art of Prevention" will celebrate PPNWO’s 70-year history of service in the greater Toledo
area, and will bring attention to the ongoing need for the prevention of unintended pregnancies and
sexually transmitted diseases. Currently, there is an epidemic of STDs, according to the local agency’s
CEO, Lisa G. Perks, with one in four teen girls infected.
