Tatum column to be dedicated
TOLEDO – The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo will hold a dedication ceremony Friday for the "Art
Tatum Celebration Column", a memorial to the Toledo native and jazz icon. The ceremony will be at
noon in front of the sculpture at the north entry to the Lucas County Multipurpose Arena, on the corner
of Madison and Superior.
The Art Tatum Celebration Column is a glowing 27-foot tower of 88 piano keys, created by San Francisco
artist and jazz enthusiast Cork Marcheschi.
Canal Days events
GRAND RAPIDS – The Grand Rapids Arts Council is sponsoring two events during Canal Days. On on Saturday,
from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Town Hall Theatre, will be a free show spotlighting individuals within the
community who have talent in music and/or dance. Those interested in performing should call (419)

And the arts council and the Grand Rapids Historical Society are teaming up to feature Judith Justis on
Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Town Hall. She will talk about the Underground Railroad. This is a free event.

Time for tea at Rossford
ROSSFORD – The Rossford Arts Commission’s fourth annual "Taking Time For Tea" will be held Sept
20 from 2 to 5 p.m. Rossford Recreation Center, 400 Dixie Hwy.
It will be an afternoon to enjoy friends, tea and music while supporting the arts commission.
Cuisine by ANDI will present a gourmet lunch along with a musical presentation by "The Coming
Attraction." Guests will have time to view and purchase tickets for our silent auction. Tickets $15
presale only with a reservation deadline for Sept. 14. Tables for 8 can be reserved. For further

Between the Trees performs Sunday at Frankies in Toledo
TOLEDO – Critically-acclaimed pop rock band Between the Trees will be performing Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at
Frankies, 308 Main St., in Toledo.
The band will be on the national AbsolutePunk.Net’s "Next Favorite Band" tour, showcasing music
from its new sophomore Bonded Records/Universal album titled Spain.
One of Alternative Press’ "100 Bands You Need To Know," Between the Trees features Ryan
Kirkland, and brother Jeremy and Josh Butler. They will perform their first single from Spain, "We
Can Try," in addition to new songs and fan favorites from their debut album The Story and the Song,
which launched the band as the first artist to be "upstreamed" from a Universal independent to
a Universal major when it debuted on Billboard’s Heatseeker South Atlantic Chart at No. 3, Heatseeker
National chart at No. 50, and Independent Album chart at No. 44.
Touring continually over the last two years, Between the Trees has been laying the groundwork down hard
since releasing its 2007 debut album.
Art and Chamber Music will benefit Chamber Music Toledo
TOLEDO – Art and Chamber Music, a benefit event for Chamber Music Toledo, is to be presented at 7 p.m.
Sept. 19 in 20 North Gallery, 20 N. St. Clair St. It will feature live music and lively art, plus wine
and refreshments.
Chamber Music Toledo was founded in 2007 by pianist Greg Kostraba. The program director at Purdue
University Public Radio, WBAA in West Lafayette, Ind., Kostraba will perform during the fundraiser,
along with clarinetist Kevin Schempf, members of the Tower Brass Quintet, and violinists Penny Thompson
Kruse and Merwin Siu.

Bluegrass concert is Monday
MAUMEE – Three local bluegrass bands will perform Monday at the Glass City Opry stage at the Maumee
Indoor Theater at 601 Conant St.
The show will start at 7 p.m.
Featured will be Fossil Creek, Fulton County Bluegrass and the Bluegrass Quartet.
Tickets are $10. Children 15 and under are admitted free with an adult.
