Two 21-year-old men have both pleaded guilty to amended counts of burglary in regards to a December home
invasion on Thurstin Avenue.
Devonne A. Goode and Charles A. Shaw were both charged with felonious assault and two counts of
aggravated robbery.
The initial Bowling Green Police report indicated both were involved in a forced entry and assault of a
woman and her boyfriend at their Thurstin Avenue residence.
Through plea agreements, the felonious assault counts are being dismissed with the other counts amended
to burglary charges.
On Monday morning Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Reeve Kelsey sentenced Shaw to four years in
prison on each count and ordered the sentences to be served concurrently.
He was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of more than $720.
Credit was given for the 178 days he has spent in the Wood County jail.
Goode was originally scheduled for sentencing Monday afternoon; however that case was continued as his
attorney was tied up in court for a jury trial in a separate case.
According to the police, the two charged were previously roommates of the woman. After Goode and Shaw
forced their way into the apartment on Dec. 14, they took an Xbox 360 game system, another XBox, a
Nintendo Game Cube, along with several games for each.
The initial police report indicated a male occupant in the apartment was treated for wounds received
after the defendants assaulted him.
