Joeann (Mizer) Rectenwald, daughter of Clarence Mizer and Kathleen (Canterbury) Jeffers, passed away
Friday morning. Joeann married Peter (Joe) Rectenwald on August 28, 1982, he survives. The two were
married 27 years. She retired from American Lincoln in 1994. Joeann was a lifetime member of the VFW
Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed gardening (especially her red roses) and watching the finches and
hummingbirds. She was an avid knitter and was also well known for her chocolate chip cookies.
Surviving are Joeann’s daughters Pam (Armbruster) Manring and husband Jerry, Cincinnati, OH, Sherry
(Armbruster) Layman and husband Fred, Bowling Green, OH, Debbie (Armbruster) Rasmussen and husband Jim,
Virginia Beach, VA, and Suzanne (Rectenwald) Halley and husband Mike, Peoria, AZ.
Joeann is survived by 12 grandchildren: Hope (Layman) Henninger, Ryan and Jason Manring, Mandy (Layman)
Pasley, Maegan (Manring) Noland, Tyler Layman, Jimmy, Joey, and Justin Rasmussen, Ange-Lisa (Smith)
Ashbeck, Airion (Smith) Rivero, and Ashley (Smith) Shuler, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are her sisters Janie (Glenn)Cook, Ruby Ann (Bill) Priest, Linda Tinnell and Joeann’s
brother Nick (Carol) Jeffers.
Joeann was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ted Mizer, and great-grandson Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, August 31st at 11AM at Dunn Funeral Home with
burial following at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2PM-4PM and 6PM-8PM on Sunday August
30th at the funeral home.
