Sentinel-Tribune carrier Shirley Woessner has won the Ohio Circulation Managers Association?s Ohio
Outstanding Newspaper Carrier Award, Senior Division.
The Glenn L. Cox awards are named for the group?s founder, a former circulation manager for the Dayton
Daily News.
Woessner delivers the Sentinel-Tribune to an average of 35 customers in the area of East Wooster Street,
Williams Street and Baldwin Avenue. She has worked the route since August 1997.
Circulation Director Randy Machan said awards are made in youth, adult and senior divisions, with the
selection process based on route management, personal, scholastic and community service and supporting
documents, such as letters of recommendation.
Machan said Woessner has not had customer complaints, does a good job of maintaining the number of
customers on her route and has a strong record of community service.
Woessner, who is retired from Bowling Green State University, spends a lot of time volunteering with the
BG Christian Food Pantry and the Salvation Army, especially with recruiting volunteers for the Bell
Ringers program. Machan said she also helps out subscribers and others in her neighborhood who need
assistance.
Award winners receive a $2,000 savings bond, a plaque of recognition and an invitation to the Ohio
Circulation Managers Association awards dinner. The winners? entry forms are forwarded to the Newspaper
Association of America Carrier of the Year Program. (Photo by: J.D. Pooley/Sentinel-Tribune)
