BG applies for public works grants

Bowling Green City Council took about four minutes Wednesday evening to approve legislation that could
mean up to $800,000 for several utility projects in the city.
Council took the action during a special meeting because it does not have another scheduled meeting until
after the application deadline.
Assistant Director of Utilities Paul Brock apologized for the short notice but pointed out that the city
just learned of the opportunities.
The grants could save the city up to $400,000 on two projects already under way at the wastewater
treatment plant and could cover up to $400,000 toward water line projects planned on East Wooster Street
and East Gypsy Lane Road.
The grants are available through the Ohio Public Works Commission State Capital Improvement Program and
the Local Transportation Improvement Program.
Council approved the legislation, with Megan Newlove not voting because she is acting mayor.Bowling Green
