Toledo dixieland band opens Pemberville concert series
PEMBERVILLE – The second season of Live In The House gets under way at the Pemberville Opera House Sept.
5 at 7:30pm with The Glass City Dixieland Band.
The Glass City Dixieland Band concert is the first of nine shows to be presented the first Saturday of
each month. Upcoming shows include contemporary songwriters, gospel, barbershop harmony and a silent
movie with live piano accompaniment.
The Glass City Dixieland Band, a group of serious avocational players, has been playing for over 30
years.
They have performed at country clubs, on the back of trucks in parades, in opera houses, church services,
funerals, many outdoor festivals, and just about any place else music is played. They have ventured as
far as North Carolina.
They described their approach as "swinging Dixieland Music" with songs such as "Bourbon
Street Parade," "Do You Know What It Means To Miss
New Orleans?" and "Just a Closer Walk with Thee."

Michigan artist displays work
PERRYSBURG – Paintings by Julia Garnett will be on exhibit at the Perrysburg Municipal Building and The
Perrysburg Municipal Courthouse through Sept. 8.
Garnett, an artist from Spring Arbor, Mich., features nature themes in her acrylic paintings.
The exhibits are sponsored by the Perrysburg Area Arts Council
Prizm hosts open air art event
PERRYSBURG – Prizm Creative Community will sponsor a Pot Luck and Plein Air event at the 577 Foundation
in Perrysburg on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Prizm members and any guests who would like to learn more about the Prizm organization, a non-profit
group for visual and literary artists, are invited to bring a lunch dish to share, their own drink and
service ware, and enjoy a potluck together starting at 11:30 a.m. Immediately following lunch
participants are free to set up their equipment on the 577 Foundation grounds for open air painting,
drawing, photography and writing.

Watercolor workshop offered
PERRYSBURG – Prizm Creative Community is sponsoring a five-week workshop, "Awash in
Watercolor," artist John Trumball in September and October.
Participants will learn techniques to control watercolor paint, to help with basic composition such as
perspective and values, and to work from photographs. Cost for class is $75 for Prizm members and $95
for guests.
The daytime session will be offered on Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 8, 15 and 22 as well as Oct. 6
and 13. An evening session will be available on Thursdays 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 10, 17 and 24 and Oct.
8 and 15 . The first four weeks of classes of both sessions will be at the Way Public Library in
Perrysburg and the fifth week at Maumee Library Community Room.
Trumball studied advertising art at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and has painted professionally
for more than 40 years.

Jazz guitarist at Toledo club
TOLEDO – Guitarist Dan Faehnle will perform at Murphy’s Place, 151 Water St., Saturday with shows at 9
and 11 p.m.
The Toledo native has worked with Pink Martini and Diana Krall. Tickets are $8, $10, and $15.
Red Wanting Blue in BG
Ohio rockers Red Wanting Blue will perform Saturday at 9 p.m. at Howard’s Club H, 210 N. Main. St.,
Bowling Green.
Tickets are $5.
