Keillor returns as part of Owens show season

Two of the country’s most popular storytellers will headline "Spectrum," the 2009-1=2010 season
at Owens Community College’s Center for Fine and Performing Arts.
Radio personality and humorist Garrison Keillor will return to Owens for an evening of storytelling April
15. Keillor appeared on campus in February, 2004.
Mitch Albom, author of "Mornings with Morrie" and "The Five People You Meet in
Heaven," will be on campus for an open discussion on May 11.
The Owens performance season will include national and local performances, including children’s shows,
comedy, music and theater.
The college will host two concerts by internationally recognized virtuosos. On Oct. 11, the African
American Legacy Project of Northwest Ohio will present jazz pianist and composer Stanley Cowell, a
Toledo native, in a tribute concert performance to legendary jazz pianist and Toledo native Art Tatum.

On Oct. 23, Francesc de Paula Soler, known as "The Poet of the Guitar," will present a
cosmopolitan musical mix of Spanish and Latin American music in a free concert.
The "Spectrum" series will feature:
¥ A Comedy Showcase – Night of 100 Stars with impressionists and entertainers Bethany Owen, Pete Peterkin
and David Born on Sept. 25.
¥ "Jukebox Gold" by the vocal quartet Beachfront Property on Oct. 9.
¥ Soul Sessions Dance Concert with the Soul Street Dance Company on Jan. 8.
¥ Dreamgirls, a celebration of female soul singers on Feb. 19.
¥ The Grascals performing traditional bluegrass and classic country music on March 19.
The performing arts season will include a Family Fun Sunday series of three performances.
Shows scheduled include:
¥ The Tweaksters, a duo of Regan Patno and Julia Snyder who blend balletic feats, precision juggling,
acrobatics and creative choreography with odd objects on Oct. 25.
¥ Faustwork Mask Theatre will present "The Mask Messenger" on Jan. 17.
¥ The musical "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" presented by Sign Stage on Tour on March 7.

Local community arts programs will include:
¥ Toledo School for the Arts will present the musical "All Shook Up" Nov. 5-8;
Winter Musicfest Concert on Dec. 17; and Limitless Dance on March 5.
¥ The Toledo Repertoire will stage an Edgy Rep Reading "The Man Who Had Three Arms" on Oct. 10
and the musical "Victor/Victoria" June 4, 5, 11, 12 and 13.
¥ The Northwest Ohio Chapter of The Voices of Harmony will present its Sounds of the Season concert on
Dec. 12.
Owens students will be featured in college productions of Craig Wright’s "Recent Tragic Events"
Nov. 19, 20, 21 and 22, and
Mitch Albom’s
"And The Winner Is" April 8, 9, 10 and 11.
Faculty and students will showcase their talents in "Creative Noises Live" Fall Artists Series,
Nov. 2-18.
