Jacob "Jake" Michael Joseph Childers, age 19, of Waterville, OH died unexpectedly August 23,
2009.
He was born June 13, 1990 to Rex and Amy (Duty) Childers in Toledo, OH.
Jake graduated with honors in June of 2009 from Anthony Wayne High School. He planned on attending The
University of Cincinnati in September.
Jake worked at Valleywood Golf Course, Swanton, Ohio and throughout his high school years at Anthony
Wayne, he worked at the Toledo Mud Hens and Mancinos.
Activities included High School basketball, 12th grade basketball co-captain, High School Track, National
Honor Society, and Northwest Ohio Focus Art Exhibit where he showcased hand-crafted jewelry at the
Toledo Museum of Art.
Jake had a zest for life and lived life the fullest. He was inseparable from his dog, Zulu.
He enjoyed and was active in so many sports throughout his life: basketball, soccer, football and track.
He loved basketball so much that as a baby, he’d cry "ball" from his crib and was comforted
when he hugged his full-sized Wilson basketball.
Jake had an infectious smile that lit up a room when he entered. He had a great sense of humor, a
creative flair, passion for adventure, loved music, believed in God, loved the water, and had an
appetite of no other. Jake had a true love for his many dear friends, family and community.
Our family wishes to thank God for 19 years of loving, enjoying and watching Jake grow from a baby to
young adult. Our life is enriched and blessed to have loved a child whose footprints have journeyed this
earth and touched so many. We know he is with God. We know we will all see him again.
