Gene E. Campbell, age 72 of Cygnet, died at 6:42 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2009, at the Bridge Hospice
Care Center.
He was born on July 13, 1937, in Putnam County to the late Bernard and Helen (Stirn) Campbell. On October
19, 1963, he married Marilyn Tyson and she survives in Cygnet. Surviving Gene are his three children:
Chris Campbell of Bowling Green; Carla (Steve) Lutz of Cape Coral, FL; and Craig Campbell of Sanford,
FL; one brother: Gary (Mary) Campbell of Weston; and two sisters: Rose Marie Hosley of Bloomdale and
Maryann (Mark) Davis of Wayne. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rachel and Sarah Campbell and
Naomi Lutz.
Gene worked for Wood County for 34 years.
He was a member of the Delaware American Legion.
Gene also owned race horses and was a member of the U.S.T.A.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 26, 2009, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME,
North Baltimore.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday August 27, 2009, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME,
with Pastor Ralph Mineo officiating. Burial will follow in Weaver Cemetery, Bairdstown, where graveside
services will be conducted by the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539.
