P. Gwilym "Bill" Stearns, 76, of Eagleville Road, Fostoria, died Wednesday (Aug. 19, 2009) at
the Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born Nov. 14, 1932 in Fostoria, Ohio, to Paul and Betty Williams Stearns. He married Judith Ann
Hill on July 22, 1953 in Fostoria, Ohio, and she survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are four sons, Jeffery Stearns, Douglas (Beverly) Stearns, Gary (Bev) Stearns and Thomas
(Jennie) Stearns, all of Fostoria; two brothers, Stewart (Joyce) Stearns of Bowling Green, and Joseph
(Brenda) Stearns of Fostoria; nine grandchildren, Capt. Charles Stearns, Emily Brinkman, TSSG Aaron
Stearns, Abby Stearns, SSG Claire Stearns, Ryan, Hannah, Valerie and Clay Stearns; and five
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Stearns retired in 1988 as a longtime Production Supervisor at Autolite Co. in Fostoria. He was also
a lifelong farmer and still active on the family farm.
He was a 1950 Graduate of Fostoria High School and attended The Ohio State University.
Mr. Stearns was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Fostoria; and was a Life Member of the NRA,
Fostoria Elks, and Valley Creek Lodge; and a member of Fostoria Lodge 288 F & AM, Fostoria
Chapter, Council & Commandary, Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, Fostoria Shrine Club and Zenobia
Temple.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman, he loved photography and competitive shooting.
Bill will be sadly missed by his family & friends.
Memorial Services will be held Monday (Aug. 24, 2009) at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in
Fostoria, Ohio. Rev. Beth Zuehlke will officiate.
Visitation will be Sunday (Aug. 23, 2009) from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home,
Fostoria.
