Sentences: Martinez has a day of court

Edward Martinez, 41, listed with various addresses, finally appeared before Wood County Common Pleas
Court Judge Robert Pollex Aug. 4. for sentencing in a case from 2006.
Martinez had pleaded guilty to two charges in April of 2007. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered
with Martinez scheduled to return in June of that year for sentencing. He failed to appear and a warrant
was issued.
Earlier this year, he was arrested in another jurisdiction and then brought to Wood County.
Pollex sentenced him to nearly five years in prison on top of his sentence in the other jurisdiction. He
received 11 months for theft and four years for failure to comply with order or signal of police
officer. The two sentences are to be served consecutive. However, the sentence for theft is to be served
concurrently to the sentence already being served in the other case; while the four-year sentence is to
be served consecutively to that case.
Numerous other individuals have been sentenced to prison by Pollex over the last few weeks.
