Robert ‘Bob’ Schober

Robert F. "Bob" Schober, age 90, of Findlay died at 1:55 a.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2009, at
Birchaven Health Care Center.
He was born on May 21, 1919, in Walbridge, OH to the late Julius and Winifred (Blecke) Schober. Bob
married Dondus A. Berndt on April 16, 1943, and she survives.
He is also survived by: four children and their spouses, Jean (Peter) Morrell, Ph.D. of Greeley, CO,
Julia (Ted) LaRoche of Palm Bay, FL, John (D’Arbra) Schober of Downers Grove, IL, Janet (Kevin) Flesch
of Englewood, CO, nine grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Four brothers: George, Walter, Wayne and Frederick Schober and one sister, Florence Smith, preceded him
in death.
Bob was a 1937 graduate of Lake High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He owned Schober Insurance Agency in Findlay for over 60 years.
He was a very active member of the First Lutheran Church, the Findlay Exchange Club, the Jackson and Lake
Granges, the Flag City Gleaner Arbor and the National Assoc. of Life Underwriters.
Bob’s love for people was expressed through his many hours of volunteer service in the community. He also
enjoyed gardening, boating and travel with his wife and family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home and
for one hour (9:30 to 10:30 a.m.) at the Church prior to the service. The funeral service will be held
at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2009, at the First Lutheran Church, Findlay with Pastor Bob Cochran
and Pastor Paul DeMoss officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. in Lake Township
Cemetery, Walbridge, Ohio.
Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Bob to First Lutheran Church, Schaefer Care Center at
Birchaven Village, Gleaner Scholarship Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice.
