Bowling Green Police have arrested two suspects in a string of vehicle vandalisms early Wednesday, but handled another nine smash-and-grab incidents on the east side of town later in the day.
Andre R. Elvoid, 20, Bowling Green, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. along Harvest Lane on a warrant as well as criminal trespass, criminal damaging, receiving stolen property, and contributing to the unruliness/delinquency of a child. He was taken to jail and booked on the warrant only. Police report Elvoid and a juvenile broke into vehicles and were in possession of a bag with numerous stolen items. The juvenile also was arrested for theft and was transported to the juvenile detention center.
Police are linking Elvoid and the juvenile to reports of vehicle break-ins along nearby Anna Lane, Birch Street, Ash Street and Meadowview Drive.
By 6 a.m. Wednesday, the division began receiving reports of vehicle break-ins on the east side of town, in an area heavily populated with student housing.
During the morning, police handled nine complaints of vehicles that had windows smashed and items stolen. Reports were taken from the 200 block of South College Drive, Alpine in-dash CD player, black iPod and LG Envy Touch cell phone; 300 block of South College Drive, orange iPod Nano and case; 500 block of South College Drive, BGSU backpack and Dell laptop with Vera Bradley sleeve; 700 block of Fifth Street, laptop computer, MP3 player and Garman GPS; 700 block of Third Street, Garmin GPS; two vehicles in the 800 block of Third Street, a tan wallet and backpack from one, and window smashed but nothing stolen from the other; 900 block of Robinwood Lane, window smashed but nothing stolen; and 800 block of Second Street, Sony in-dash CD player.
The lock was punched out on a vehicle parked in the 500 block South College Drive, and a Panasonic CD player and iPod with leather case were reported taken.
Vandalism reports also were handled at 1429 E. Napoleon Road, where tires were slashed on seven vehicles.

That's one thing about BG. Eventually, we learn who did it and hopefully, you will get your things back.

Who's we? About thirty years ago I had my car broken into, and it was ransacked. Never found out who did it, never had my (few) tools returned. My deductible was larger than the price of replacing the glass.

About eight years ago, I had my (unattached) garage broke into and ransacked. Apparently just vandalism. Never did find out who did it.

That's one thing about B.G. - anybody I've ever met that had burglary or vandalism occur has never had the problem resolved. At least the police were able to handle a tiny bit of the crime occurring Wednesday morning.

What I don't understand is, why on earth are people leaving Ipods, touch-screen phones, laptops, and GPS units IN their vehicles when they are not in them? Take your stuff in the house with you! Then, if someone breaks into your car, they get nothing of value... not to mention the fact that a thief probably won't break into a car that appears to contain nothing of interest to them.

@jeff

maybe if you're lucky, we got several thousand dollars worth of musical equipment stolen at a show and they told us they wouldn't help us at all
