The Treasure Hunters Roadshow will be visiting Bowling Green Aug. 2-6. It will be set up at the Hampton Inn at 142 Campbell Hill Road. The hours will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the first four days and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 6.
People bringing items will have a chance to talk, for free, to the roadshow representatives, who will make offers on items based on what the show's collectors are willing to pay. Guests then will have the option to sell their items on the spot and receive the money at that time.
People may bring as many items as they want. There is no limit.
The roadshow's staff are hoping to see items such as coins and paper currency issued prior to 1965, vintage jewelry, old and modern musical instruments, war memorabilia, gold and silver jewelry, costume jewelry, swords, knives and daggers.
They also are looking for pre-1965 toys that are in B to A-plus condition and dolls such as vintageĀ  Barbie and G.I. Joe dolls as well as character dolls and German dolls.
Trains of interest would be Lionel, American Flyer, Marklin, Hafher train sets, accessories, individual cars and all gauge scales.
Vintage advertising memorabilia also has value. This includes items promoting petroleum, beverage, beer, liquor and auto companies. The actual items could be metal signs, store promotion signs, serving trays and outdoor thermometers.
The roadshow will buy gold based on the day's current gold value.
Call (217) 726-7590 for further information on the roadshow.

Significant concerns have been raised in other cities about this operation.

A quick Google search will point to a troubled past for this operation, a change of name, recent bounced checks and concerns that one should never sell to the person making the appraisal / items are being sold for much less than their real value.

One person likened it to a traveling pawn shop which tries to play off the solid reputation of the Antiques Roadshow on PBS.

Anyone doing a google search on this company can find out they are not someone you want to deal with. Don't be fooled into thinking this is the loved PBS Antiques Roadshow. This is a business that travels around the country taking advantage of people.
